Using the ATA 133 connectivity standard,
the Alchemy PCI card from Miglia guarantees high data transfer rates
at an affordable price.
Providing a bandwidth of 133 Megabytes/second on each of its two
channels, the Alchemy ATA card allows you to connect up to four
hard drives in your PowerMac (depending on available drive bays).
Users of PowerMacs G3 will see huge performance improvements over
the built-in IDE interface, when fast hard drives are attached to
the Alchemy ATA card.
The Alchemy ATA 133 supports drives larger than 137 GB (128 GB),
allowing you to use the new Maxtor 160 GB drives without any limitations.

You can connect up to four drives to the Alchemy
card. With 133 MB/sec bandwidth on each channel, your hard drives
will be able to achieve their highest transfer rates, even if they
are installed on the same channel.
The Alchemy ATA 133 PCI card ships with one ATA 133 cable to get
you running immediately.

|
The Alchemy ATA 133 PCI offers full support for
drives larger than 137 GB (128 GB formatted) such as the new 160
GB drive from Maxtor.
If you connect such a drive to the internal ATA 66 interface of
your PowerMac G4, the drive will only be seen partially
by your system, and you will not have access to the full amount
of storage space.

If you wish to increase the
security of your stored data, you can use the Alchemy ATA 133
PCI with software utilities like SoftRaid or Charismac
RAID to mirror two drives (Raid level 1). If one drive fails,
all your data will still be available on the other drive.
It is not recommended to use a software utility to create a Raid
level 0 setup with the Alchemy ATA 133 PCI, as performance gains
would be minimal. The Alchemy
ATA 133 RAID PCI has been specifically designed for Raid level
0 support and is a more appropriate solution.
