Reception and signal compatibility
Q: Does TVMini HD work in the USA and Canada?
A: Yes, TVMini HD has been specifically designed for the US market and will let you receive ATSC and ClearQAM TV channels on your Mac.
Q: What is ATSC?
A: ATSC (Advanced Television Systems Commitee) is the standard adopted in the USA for over-the-air digital TV transmission, eg. you receive digital TV and high definition digital TV channels using an antenna and TVMini HD.
Q: What is ClearQAM?
A: Clear QAM is the method used to transmit unencrypted digital TV over cable.
Q: How can I check if TVMini HD will work where I live? I heard HDTV is not available everywhere.
A: The website http://www.titantv.com lets you verify if ATSC reception is available in your area. It will also show you what channels are exactly available.
Q: Can I receive traditional analogue TV signals with TVMini HD?
A: No. TVMini HD only receives digital signals.
Q: Can I receive satellite TV with TVMini HD? Can I connect TVMini HD to my Satellite/Dish set top box?
A: No. Satellite set top boxes will output an analog signal via the coaxial OUT connector, which is not compatible with TVMini HD.
Q: Can I use TVMini HD with cable TV?
A: In most cases yes as most cable providers broadcast unencrypted channels on their network (eg. ClearQAM). However, please be aware that it is unlikely all channels that are available via analog cable will be available as digital. Please check with your cable provider what channels are broadcast in ClearQAM before purchasing TVMini HD.
Q: Can I receive encrypted cable broadcasts with TVMini HD? Can I connect a digital cable set top box to TVMini HD?
A: No. TVMini HD only Supports unencrypted channels (ClearQAM). Channels like HBO are usually encrypted and cannot be viewed with TVMini HD. TVMini HD should be connected directly to the wall, without going through a cable set top box.
Q: What format does TVMini HD use for recording?
A: TVMini uses the format that is broadcasted by each TV station. Usually, this is MPEG-2. The original stream does not get modified in any way.

A: No.
Q: TVMini HD includes an antenna. When should I use it?
A: The antenna is provided for mobile users who wish to watch TV on the go. Please be aware that you need a fairly good signal/reception in order to receive TV channels. If you cannot get reception with the portable antenna, connect TVMini HD to a roof-mounted antenna or amplified indoor antenna.
Q: Does TVMini HD Support 16:9 broadcasts?
A: Yes.
Q: Can I watch one channel while recording another?
