TVBook Pro Troubleshooting

Q: I ran the channel scan and some channels are missing.
A: This issue may affect UK and French users in particular, where the DVB-T (Freeview, TNT) reception is usually not as good as in other European countries.

First of all, verify that you are living in an area that is covered by digital TV. UK users can use this website to check Freeview availability based on their postcode. French users can use this website to check TNT availability.

If you are living in an area covered by digital TV, but are not getting any channels, try the following:

If you are using the mini-antenna, especially in France or the UK, place it near a window. "Indoor Mobility" is not implemented in France or the UK, which renders the use of indoor antennas less efficient.

If you open EyeTV > Preferences > Devices > Signal, the software will show you the level of reception on a given multiplex (to simplify things, a multiplex is a frequency that carries several digital TV channels. If you miss one multiplex you will miss several channels at once).

The safest method to get all channels is to connect TVBook Pro to a roof-mounted antenna.

Q: When I watch TV, some channels display a blocky picture. What can I do to improve this?
A: This is likely to be a reception problem. You can verify the signal strength and quality in EyeTV > Preferences > Devices > Signal.
Usually, a roof mounted antenna will resolve most reception problems, especially in France and the UK.

Q: My MacBook Pro will not go to sleep when TVBook Pro is inserted.
A: This issue is resolved by installing EyeTV 2.3.2 or higher (free download).
