AlchemyTV DVR™
Remote Control Troubleshooting
FAQ
Q: How can I check that the
infrared remote and its software are working?
A: When you press on a button of the remote
control, you should see a round dot appearing in the Finder's
menu bar next to the clock.
Q: How can I check that the
infrared remote is working?
A: If you have a digital camera, point the remote
towards the lense of the camera and check if you see a light
when pressing
a button.
Q: The global mode does not
seem to work, eg I have assigned a key to an application launch, but
nothing happens.
A: The global mode works a little differently from
the rest. You first need to press the 'Enter' button on the remote
and then the desired button (to start an application for example).
When you press the 'Enter' key, you should see the letter 'G' appear
in the menu bar.
Q: How do I reset all the settings?
A: Delete the file 'de.meilenstein.remotecontrol.plist'
located in ~/Username/Library/Preferences. This will revert the key
mapping to the factory settings.
Q: The Remote does not seem
to be recognised by the system.
A: Make sure you are running the latest revision of
AlchemyTV DVR. Note that the installer for AlchemyTV does not include
the remote control software. If you are running the latest version
and the remote is not recognised by your system, try the following
steps:
- Make sure the remote receiver cable is plugged into the RM port of the
AlchemyTV card. The black connector should be in contact with the PCI card.
- Trash the file "de.meilenstein.remotecontrol.plist"
located in:
<username> / Library / Preferences
If none of these steps help, please
contact support@miglia.com
Q: How should the remote receiver
be connected?
A: The remote receiver plug needs to be in contact with the PCI card.

The remote Cable is connected properly and in contact with the PCI card.
